Persistent Change Monitoring (PCM™)

A New Way to Look at Change
Faster, simpler updates to cartographic datasets

Updating and maintaining large, complex geospatial datasets can be time and resource intensive. RapidEye Persistent Change Monitoring (PCM) alleviates this problem by offering a simpler way to identify areas of significant change. This allows for faster area updates with less effort.

Cut Costs

RapidEye PCM is an MDA-patented change detection method that compares a stack of images over time to quickly identify real change areas. By identifying only real changes, RapidEye PCM saves up to 90% of the effort required than if the same area were scanned manually.

The RapidEye PCM Advantage

Using PCM to Locate Changes
This process takes advantage of the resolution, extensive archive, and wide-area collection capacity of BlackBridge’s multispectral RapidEye satellites. With the combination of RapidEye imagery and MDA PCM technology, users can locate small-scale changes down to 5 by 5 meters and update geospatial datasets up to 1:5,000 scale.

The Role of RapidEye PCM in the Workflow

RapidEye PCM is a simple raster file that integrates seamlessly into most pre-existing map update workflows. When used in combination with an existing cartographic vector layer and a higher resolution image source, RapidEye PCM allows for quick production of up-to-date vector map layers.
